The wine area of the Karst is located in the southwestern Slovenia, bordered to the south-west from the Gulf of Trieste, north of the Vipava valley and east from the hills of Brkini. The Karst is part of the Mediterranean basin, extending the plateau at an altitude of 200-300 meters above sea level.
This is the home of Teran wine that grows on clay soil called terra rossa. In combination with the arid and dry climate, distinct from both sun and strong wind bora, it creates the conditions for the birth of this unique wine from the grapevine of Refosco.
