Selected Teran PTP
From the Refosco (Refošk) grape variety, we produce Teran, the iconic wine of the Karst. The character of this wine is strongly shaped by the unique Karst red soil Terra Rossa.
According to old records, Teran was already renowned in Roman times as a wine with healing properties. The cultivation of Refosco — the main grape variety of the Karst wine-growing region — and the production of the red wine known as Teran, protected by the recognised traditional designation PTP, most likely date back to the very beginning of the Common Era.
Compared to other wines, Teran contains a high proportion of lactic acid. Some studies suggest that Teran may have beneficial effects on the human body — acting as an antioxidant and helping to reduce anaemia due to its high iron content. It has also been associated with supporting cardiovascular health and contributing to lower LDL cholesterol levels.
Teran is recognised by its intense carmine dark-red colour, an expressive bouquet of forest berries, and its high extract, fullness and harmony.
